IPL (Intense pulsed light) uses a band of multiple frequencies of light energy to destroy body hair; it is NOT a traditional laser therapy, but a much safer, quicker, more reliable, and less intrusive therapy. The machine omits light pulses which work by targeting the melanin in the hair follicle with quick pulses of light. This light energy converts to heat within the follicle. When sufficient heat has built up the follicle will break down and be unable to produce a new hair. IPL is most effective in the ‘anagen’ phase of hair growth. Approximately 30% of hairs are in this stage of growth at any one time therefore, to achieve the most semi-permanent results a course of treatments is required.
Patch test required a minimum 24 hours before treatment.
